About the Company:
Joseph, Hamilton and Seaton (JHS) have been a leading supplier of high-quality commercial carpet, carpet tiles and commercial floorcoverings in the UK for over 50 years, and part of the Headlam Group plc since 1999.
JHS supplies a large range of specialist floorcoverings. Our range offers the widest choice of products available to flooring contractors, architects, designers and other specifiers. We work in a wide range of sectors, from Education, Healthcare, Hospitality & Leisure, Residential, Retail to the Workplace environment. JHS is an ISO 9001 registered company.
Our aim is to deliver tough, long-lasting, aesthetically pleasing solutions for our specifiers and customers.
In addition, we are part of the successful Headlam Group – Europe’s biggest Floor Covering Distributor offering additional commercial, product, systems & supply chain strength and support to the JHS business. Headlam is a core founder member of Carpet Recycling UK, a notfor-profit membership association working to reduce the amount of carpet waste being sent to landfill.
About the Role:
We’re looking for an area sales manager to take on the well-established West Midlands area and lead its future development.
You’ll inherit a significant customer base of Flooring Contractors, Retail Shops involved in contract work and many associate organisations linked to the construction industry route to market. Our goal is to grow business with both new and existing customers.
As the fast-growing construction market evolves at pace, your role will be to keep at the forefront of the market and new projects – spotting and leveraging opportunities to grow sales with existing products and customers; and proactively creating openings to sell in products and bring new customers on board.
You’ll have all the tools to do the job: the broadest product range, great delivery support and top-class customer service. You’ll need to leverage your potential through your customer relationship building skills, tenacity and drive to build and grow the area.
Specifically, you will be responsible for:
- Develop an area specific business plan to proactively identify and target growth opportunities.
- Maintain and develop relationships with existing and potential customers at all levels of the customer hierarchy, in order to provide support and develop awareness of JHS products and services.
- Sell and influence the sale of JHS products and services within margin guidelines. Maximise the sales of all products across different applications (by market sector) to ensure the highest margin opportunity can be achieved whilst ensuring billings targets are reached or exceeded.
- Work with Headlam group distributors to promote JHS ranges and provide product training and support to sales teams.
- Identify, record, monitor and convert project opportunities within the marketplace to maintain and improve market share.
- Identify market and competitor information and feed it back to the business in order to ensure market requirements and competitor developments are incorporated into marketing and product plans.
- Complete administration on time so that accurate analysis reports can be prepared for use in measurement of progress and forward planning.
About you:
We’re looking for a proven area sales manager who shares our passion for the construction, fitout and refurbishment markets. You’ll need to have the tenacity, enthusiasm and can-do attitude to take this excellent product range and build solutions, excitement and commitment in your customers.
It’s a pretty large geography – so you’ll be organised, structured and conscientious in how you approach your territory and journey planning, reporting and follow-up activity.
Being out on the road means you’ll need to be self-reliant and self-motivated, but we’d like you to be a great team player too! We have a strong team ethos and encourage all colleagues to work together to provide the best experience for our customers.
In particular you'll bring:
- Area sales manager success – in a B2B sales environment.
- An impressive track record of driving sales via a consultative-selling approach.
- Experience of working on project based work with long lead times.
- You’ll ideally have some experience in Construction or a related sector – or an interest you’d like to develop.
- Strong organisation skills and experience of working with CRM or similar systems.
- A strong work ethic and a passion for exploring new opportunities to build business with your customers.
- A full, clean Driving Licence.
