Modern Slavery Transparency Statement 2016

We are Europe’s largest distributor of floorcoverings, linking together a global supplier base and an extensive customer base. Our scale gives our suppliers the broadest coverage with the greatest customer penetration for their products across the UK and Continental Europe, and our customers an unrivalled range of floorcoverings supported by next day delivery and a high level of customer service.

We understand that the issue of slavery and human trafficking is a global issue and that no business sector will be able to eliminate or be free of slavery within their supply chain without working collaboratively with industry and other interested organisations. We will not accept slavery or human trafficking in our supply chain.

The Group sources an extensive range of floorcovering products including carpet, residential vinyl, wood, laminate, luxury vinyl tile, underlay and commercial flooring. In 2016, we purchased from 107 significant suppliers based in 16 countries. Over 90% of our purchases were from suppliers in the EU.

Group employees regularly visit all of our suppliers and inspect their manufacturing facilities. Certain of our suppliers are members of Sedex. However, we recognise that there is more that we can do.

In 2017, we will develop a system of purchasing policies which will include a programme of scheduled supplier visits and inspections. Consideration will be given to third party audits and necessary training and provision of information for our relevant employees.

This statement was approved by the board of Headlam Group plc and its subsidiaries in relation to the financial period ending 31 December 2016
