The floorcovering group was established during the 1990’s by a series of acquisitions. The key events are presented below:
1992
January - Headlam Newcastle and Hadfields Stockport acquired from Hickson plc
February - Faithfulls, Ipswich and Florco, Thatcham also acquired from Hickson plc
April - a new business established in the Midlands under the Headlam name
April - Headlam Scotland acquired from Hickson plc
September - Garrods acquired and relocated to the Faithfull's site
September - Beds Flooring, Bedford acquired

April - Shulman acquired
May - KJC, West Bromwich acquired
1996
May - acquired Mercado, a national distributor. Mercado was subsequently enlarged when Richards in Bristol and LGS in Newcastle were acquired during 1998 and 2000
May - acquired Lethem-Vergeer, nationwide supplier to the Dutch market
1997
September - MCD acquired from Cinven providing another 10 regional trade brands complementing Headlam's existing regional geographic spread
December - acquired Florcraft, supplier to mail order companies
1999
January - acquired Joseph, Hamilton and Seaton, supplier of commercial carpets
January - acquired La Maison du Sol, the leading floorcovering distributor in France

January - acquired Belcolor, Switzerland
January - acquired Clifford Carpets, a distributor of domestic floorcovering
March - acquired the UK distribution business of Ossfloor, supplier of printed carpets

November - acquired Floorsales, a commercial flooring distributor
December - acquired Georgian Carpets, supplier of luxury wool rich tufted carpets

February - acquired Rikett now trading as R-Floor, supplier of commercial flooring
